Going Up the Mountains…
Commissioned by advertising agency Langland to advertise a health care product, this was a particularly hard shot to achieve as it was very difficult to find a location which would allow for the right perspective onto the summit and at the same the time for a good amount of free space to place an escalator which would go all the way up.

Original layout of escalator
Our retoucher Kate comped lots of images together to create the final ideal landscape, whilst our CGI artists Simon and Kristian created the escalator using Maya. But that was not all of it…
Nick had very specific instructions about how the escalator had to sit on top of the snow, the type of texture and softness the snow around it and how the snow would turn to ice on top of the metal parts of the escalator. We then decided to create extra snow and ice elements in CGI and Kate spent a few days working these into the shot and combining them with photographic library material – time well spent as it really looks like a bloody elevator on top of a mountain!
I have attached some close-ups as it is hard to notice the work that has gone into it when looking at the overall landscape.

The model was of course not there – he was shot in the pouring rain of London…
